This policy note is the second one produced by IBISBA. It briefly describes international developments in the field of industrial biotechnology and alerts on the fact that Europe risks to lose its competitive edge.

An IBISBA policy brief offering European policymakers an overview of the historical context and meanings that underpin some commonly used terms in the biotechnology realm. Additionally, the note presents a set of definitions for policymakers to consider when preparing the Biotech Act.
