Industrial biotechnology (IB) has the potential to create new markets while protecting the environment. With this in mind, the EU-funded BIOINDUSTRY 4.0 project will pave the way for IB to become a major manufacturing technology. Trastuzumab is a monoclonal antibody used for targeted breast cancer treatment. The production of the monoclonal antibody, trastuzumab, by the yeast Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) production system is being studied by INRAE - TWB. The expression of the genes coding heavy and light chain of the antibody is controlled by two ethanol inducible promoters.
